  • Bike to School Week

    Thu 30 Sep 2021

A big thank you to all parents/carers for facilitating your children cycling or scooting to school during our 'Bike to School' week. A variety of pupils were able to take part this week on various days. See photos of a selection of pupils who took part on Thursday. We look forward to taking part in other similar activities through the school year.

  • NI100 Colouring Competition

    Wed 29 Sep 2021

As part of the very successful NI100 event a few weeks ago run by Anahilt and Magheraconluce Community Association, a colouring competition was created for the pupils in our school. A template of the 'Harry Ferguson' mural outside our Foundation/KS1 building was given to all pupils to colour. Some of the residents of Annahilt Care Home judged the completed entries and yesterday the prize winners were announced.

In the P1 - P3 category the prize winners were:

    1. Madana Behnam
    2. Tobi Spence
    3. Jack Wilson

In the P4 - P7 category the prize winners were:

    1. Grace McClure
    2. Hannah Gowan
    3. Alana Blackwood

The prizes for 1st place were kindly donated by Ruby Clifford of Global Adventure Soft Play Centre in Ballynahinch. Second and third place prizes were donated from Annahilt Care Home.

  • Summer Improvements

    Thu 02 Sep 2021

While the boys and girls (and staff) were enjoying their summer break there was still a lot of activity in and around the school building as volunteers from our PTA and the Anahilt and Magheraconluce Community Association set about completing some very useful projects.

A significant amount of the outside of our Foundation building received a fresh coat of paint as well as some re-decorating in the entrance area (painting and carpeting). Colourful flowers have also been placed at the school gates. A lovely welcome back to everyone at the start of a new term.

Mrs Davidson has used some of our 'Well-Being' funding alongside extra funding from our PTA to completely re-purpose one of our rooms into a dedicated 'Sensory Space'. This facility will be of great benefit to our pupils and will be put to good use throughout the school year.

A spectacular 'Harry Ferguson' mural has been funded by Lisburn and Castlereagh Council through their centenary funding, secured by the PTA. The project is based around celebrating the achievements of a local person who stands out in our history - in our case - Harry Ferguson, creating a community art piece in their honour to mark NI100. Local artist Ruth Agnew, was commissioned to do the work and has done an excellent job. A beautiful mural to be enjoyed for years to come.
