  • Spooky Anna !

    Tue 22 Oct 2024

A big shoutout to Mrs Irvine's class for entering the Scarecrow Competition at Montalto! Our Spooky Anna was designed and made by the pupils, and we felt it fulfilled the brief of recycling really well! Whilst we didn’t win it was great to see how much the class came together to complete the scarecrow and they made us all very proud! Spooky Anna will be on display until after the half term holidays in Montalto, so pop along and see her for yourself.

  • From one George to another......

    Mon 21 Oct 2024

We couldn't be more thrilled to share the incredible news about our very own George Gowan!  Selected as one of the lucky mascots for Northern Ireland’s sensational victory against Bulgaria on 15 October, George definitely played a pivotal role in a historic win!

The boys in green made us proud with a remarkable 5-0 scoreline, a result we haven’t seen since April 1971!  That was a night to remember when another George – the legendary George Best – netted a hat trick against Cyprus. And now, it seems George Gowan has brought a sprinkle of that magic back!

We are celebrating our lucky mascot George who did Anahilt PS proud and by all accounts had a wonderful night.

  • Half term Disco - arrangements

    Wed 16 Oct 2024

Some details for tomorrow night from a school perspective:

I want to thank the PTA for organising and running this event in what is a very busy time.

    1. It is a half term disco - it can be Halloween themed ( although it is early due to the hall being set up Harvest Services next week !  ) , it can be harvest themed, it can be princess / superhero themed or it can have no theme and they just wear whatever they want. It really doesn't matter. It's a time to get the whole school together and have some fun.

    2. There will be other activities in quieter rooms for those who find the music and lights a bit too much. However,  please remember this is a PTA event and being run by parent volunteers. If you feel it may not be right for your child please err on the side of caution.

    3. It will be getting dark at pick up. Please come to the hall just before 8pm and pick up from there. Pupils will not be released outside themselves, regardless of age.

    4. The disco is only open to current Anahilt Primary School pupils.

    5. If older pupils require mobiles for pick up etc.  they must be checked in at the beginning of the night with staff. We cannot allow recordings/ cameras/ videos being taken by anyone other than the 'official' photographer 😊

We can't wait to see everyone tomorrow night !

  • A new look for Matthew !

    Mon 14 Oct 2024

Matthew has been growing his hair for 3 years with the aim of donating it to make wigs for those who have lost their hair through illness. He also decided he would also like to raise some money for his school to buy some supplies for the classrooms and the lovely new library.

Matthew got his hair cut on Friday  and we are showing the before and after pictures. Doesn't he look well. We are all very proud of what Matthew has done and I know his mum and dad are looking forward to not having to spend ages brushing it in the morning! If you would like to donate please click on the link below.

  • WINNERS !!!

    Fri 11 Oct 2024

Huge congratulations to the APS QUIZ TEAM who came 1st in the Inter- Schools’ Table Quiz Competition, which was held on Thursday 10th October at Meadow Bridge Primary School. Teams from 15 local primary schools participated in the event and all pupils had a very enjoyable afternoon.

The Quiz consisted of 8 rounds with ten questions in each. Each round consisted of a different theme eg geography, general knowledge, music, catchphrases, spelling etc. Anahilt took the lead early on in the competition and managed to say top of the leaderboard throughout!

The Quiz Team consisted of Micah and Maeve from P7 and Sam and Korey from P6. The team have worked very hard over the past month, brushing up on their general knowledge and their efforts were rewarded today by winning the cup!

WELL DONE TO ALL THE TEAM INCLUDING TEAM MANAGER MRS McCUNE!

  • Happy Birthday

    Fri 04 Oct 2024

Despite my best efforts to hide it,  most of Anahilt and surrounding area know that I had a big birthday today. Whilst most of you will be in disbelief that I am 50 I can assure you that I feel every day of it ! I just wanted to say a huge thank you to the staff and pupils who once again showed that this really is the best community to be working in and involved with. I was made to feel really special ( and left longing for a full head of hair again 😀 )
