School Council Visit to Stormont

School Council Enjoys Educational and Fun-Filled Visit to Stormont

Today, our School Council had the exciting opportunity to visit the iconic Stormont Buildings, thanks to the kind organisation of MLA Robbie Butler. The trip provided pupils with a valuable insight into how government works in Northern Ireland, while also offering plenty of time for fun and relaxation.

The visit began with a fascinating guided tour of the Stormont estate. Pupils explored the impressive Stormont Buildings and were given a chance to see inside the Assembly Chamber, where important decisions affecting the country are made. It was a fantastic opportunity for our young representatives to learn more about democracy, leadership, and the role of elected officials. The pupils showed great interest throughout, asking thoughtful questions and representing our school with enthusiasm and pride.

Following the tour, everyone made the most of the beautiful surroundings by enjoying their picnics on the Stormont grounds. With the sun shining, it was the perfect setting for pupils to relax, chat, and reflect on what they had learned.

The day continued with a visit to the playpark, where there was plenty of laughter and energy as the pupils enjoyed some well-earned fun time together. It was a great way to round off an already memorable experience.

A special thank you goes to Councillor Gowan, one of our wonderful supporters and parent, who kindly treated the pupils to sweets, much to their delight! Even more importantly (especially for keeping energy levels up!), Mrs McCune was very grateful for the much-appreciated coffee.

We would also like to extend our thanks once again to Robbie Butler MLA for arranging such an engaging and worthwhile visit. Experiences like this help bring learning to life and inspire our pupils to take an active interest in their community and the wider world.

Well done to all our School Council members for representing our school so brilliantly. We are very proud of you!
