Update on Safety Measures Today

Dear Parents and Carers,

You may be aware of news circulating earlier today regarding a reported threat to schools in the Antrim area.

While our school has not been directly included in any official correspondence, the safety and wellbeing of our pupils and staff is always our highest priority. As a precaution, we have implemented additional security measures throughout the day to ensure our school community remains safe.

These measures include:

  • All school gates being securely locked
  • The main office operating in a locked-down state
  • All internal doors secured on magnetic locks to restrict access around the building
  • All external clubs brought inside for the afternoon

We also adapted our 2:00pm collection arrangements by slowing the process, keeping pupils well back from collection points, and providing additional staff supervision to ensure everything proceeded safely.

For the end of the school day at 3:00pm, we kindly ask for your support with the following:

  • Please spread out along the gate area so that staff can clearly see and safely release pupils
  • We will stagger classes coming out, so we ask for your patience during collection

For after-school collections:

  • Please ring the after-school bell or call the mobile number as usual, rather than approaching doors directly

We understand that situations like this can cause concern, but please be reassured that we are taking all reasonable precautions and will continue to monitor the situation closely.

Thank you, as always, for your cooperation and support.

Kind regards,

A Smyth
