Happy Retirement Daphne

Today we were thrilled to have Daphne visit us at school to mark her retirement. Gifts were presented on behalf of the Governors, Staff, Parents and Pupils.

Daphne retired as our school Building Supervisor on Friday 24 September after an amazing 42 years of service.

Daphne not only took a great interest in the school premises but also in both pupils and staff. She was a pupil herself at Anahilt Primary School as well as her own children attending. She served three Principals, the late W Kyle, D Capper and currently R Reid.

Whether it was cleaning the floors, the windows or the desks, Daphne always took a pride in her work. But more importantly, she loved talking to the children and being a surrogate mother to them, sympathising with them when they fell or reassuring them when they were upset. Then there were the cups of tea prepared for the staff when they arrived in the morning and hot orange juice if one was feeling unwell!

Daphne became a part time cleaner in the school in 1979, later becoming Cleaner-in-charge and then Building Supervisor in 2002.  Daphne has now decided to take a well- earned rest.

We wish her every happiness in her retirement.
